We have over fifteen years of experience providing consulting services to California Utilities as well as research organizations, commercial, and institutional clients. NegaWatt is a San Diego-based, California-DGS certified Small Business (#1749103). We primarily serve California.
Our Specialties
NegaWatt Consulting has a passion for all things energy, sustainability and emerging technology. We support our utility clients with technical studies that include Codes & Standards, EM&V, Work Papers, State and Federal Energy Rulemaking, and more. We assist owners and architects to optimize existing and new buildings with respect to energy and sustainability. This includes end-to-end LEED certification, commissioning, energy calculations, and decision support for designers and engineers.
EISG Program Awardee — We understand Innovation
NegaWatt Consulting was awarded research and development funding by the California Energy Commission as part of the Energy Innovations Small Grant Program in 2013 and 2015. We subsequently developed an innovative control strategy for buildings with rooftop air conditioning that demonstrated over 25% savings. Bottom line — we can help you succeed with your ideas.

For Good
It’s not all about us - we believe that even a small business like ours can and should contribute to the greater good.
To that end, NegaWatt became a Public Benefit Corporation on its 16th anniversary in May 2025. We continue to operate for profit; in addition, we now pursue a stated public benefit, namely: “To provide professional services to that contribute to climate change mitigation and to the sustainable use of energy”.
To firm up our commitment, we became a certified B-Corporation in late 2025.
Last but not least, we have decided to donate 1% of our revenue to causes close to our hearts, and formally committed to doing so by becoming a member of 1% for the Planet in January 2026.
