Excited about the new administration

Energy policy changes abound.

NegaWatt welcomes the new administration and the fresh start it brings about. President Biden has expressed that tackling climate change will once again be a core priority. We applaud this decision loudly. It is not an easy task, not to mention the extra burden of undoing what the previous presidency has done. Regardless, it is a challenge that must be taken on with utmost urgency, as we observe ever greater consequences of human interaction with the planet’s ecosystems.

Unthinkable Attack on the Capitol

Time to pick sides.

I don’t usually comment here on political events, or events that are not directly related to our business.

As a Company, we are largely impartial, unbiased and unprejudiced.

However, there are rare times when one has to choose sides and speak up. This is such a time.

Black Lives Matter

Things need to change. Now.

This may or may not be the place for social commentary. But I can’t help it. Corporate correctness only goes so far in the face of what’s happening around us. Many of us - me included - are deeply disturbed by George Floyd’s death, and by other’s deaths under similar circumstances. My son and I did an honor run for Ahmaud Arbery just a month ago. And the list goes on and on. After everything that history and recent events should have taught us, how can it be that people of color, especially African Americans, continue to experience such injustice and inequality in this society? This is not acceptable, and needs to change. I am elated to see, and utterly supportive of, countless peaceful activities, online and on the streets, aimed at doing away with the sorry status quo.

About the Coronavirus crisis

An unprecedented, global crisis that affects us all

First and foremost, my and my staff’s thoughts, prayers and best wishes go out to those of you and to your families & friends who are directly affected by COVID-19.

As importantly, I would like to express my personal gratitude to those of you in the health and public service sectors who are selflessly helping the rest of us get through these unprecedented times. Thank you!

At NegaWatt, we have thus far been affected only in a small way. We maintain regular business hours, and all staff and subcontractors are available to provide services remotely. We continue to provide the majority of our offerings, to all clients. Some limitations apply, unfortunately. For example, we have to suspend measurement and verification activities, whenever working on-site is not safe or permissible. Affected projects have been replanned, and will resume as soon as possible.

Reduce what we can, Offset what we cannot.

Preserving the environment is a responsibility we all share.

We do the best we can for our operations to have a minimal footprint, for example by working remotely, by keeping only digital records, and by using low-power IT equipment. Yet, we use electricity, gas and water in our workspaces, and we drive -and sometimes fly- to our clients, work sites and events.

To balance the footprint we cannot avoid, we have decided to partner with Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF).

NegaWatt, reinvented.

After ten years of providing professional services, we are taking NegaWatt to the next level!

Yes, it has been that long. We are grateful to all our clients and partners for their trust and business. We like to think we have earned it. We take great pride in our accomplishments. Our work has contributed to reducing energy, gas and electricity use, and greenhouse gas emissions throughout California and beyond. And that's exactly what we set out to do.

As we continue our work, we are also widening the scope of our services. In addition to the technical services we have been providing for years, we now also conduct commissioning, market research, green building certification, and outreach & event support. Last but not least, we are expanding our services to all other Western states, in addition to California.
